when you start scanning blogs that you normally read and all of a sudden you realize that several of your fellow bloggers could have been peeking through your windows to get their material??
I haven't been blogging at all this week. It's just been an off week, lots going on and I was just too darn tired to be honest. So tonight, I start scrolling down the list of updates from blogs I read. One blog starts with hair. Starts talking about the same exact stuff I was thinking while I was doing my hair tonight before I left for work.
Freaky. And kind of neat cause it helps to know that you aren't the only person out there in this great big world that had a good hair day yesterday but then today, blech.
I continue scrolling. And right there in front of my eyes is the same book that I just picked up at the library on Tuesday afternoon for my son. A very good blog review on not just the story but on the actual book and it's quality of paper, cover and the details on the pages where there are maps and pictures. Funny, when I picked it up for my son, I thought it was a pretty cool cover. Now, based on that review, I want to go home and check out the inside of the book.
Speaking of books, what a good week for me. I had been trying to reserve a book through my library since November and it just seems like they aren't getting that book in. Weird because they have other books by the author. So while I was sitting at work one night, this huge bolt of lightening comes down on me and I come up with this idea. Why not join Doubleday Book Club again. I haven't belonged in years. So I decide to look it up on line. Typical for me, their site is down for repairs. Maybe it's a sign. So I wait till the next night which was a Friday night and I'm at home. I'm all snug in my bed and I'm browsing Doubleday's site. I get my shopping cart all full. Then it comes time to check out and they want my credit card number. Ok, but I'm all tucked in bed and the pocketbook is alllll the way downstairs in the basement by the back door. Not happening tonight my friends. And then I start thinking it's another sign.
But I'm brave, I'll challenge the gods again!
So armed with my debit card, laptop and list, I get on the site and order my books. I order The Girl on Legare Street by Karen White, which was the book that started this whole fiasco, The Lost Symbol by Dan Brown, House Rules by Jodi Picoult, Caught by Harlan Coben, which is on back order, Live To Tell by Wendy Corsi Staub, which was on back order but shipped yesterday and two special treats Very Valentine & Brava Valentine by Adriana Trigiani. I really wanted both of those Valentine books even though I already read them. I just loved the story and I know I would read them again.
I was an extremely happy camper the other day when I opened the front door and that special little brown box was sitting there. It only took $6.98 to make me incredibly happy!
Before I can dive into my new exciting pile of books, I have to finish my library pile. I'm about 1/2 through Shutter Island which I think is fabulous! And then I have Secrets of Eden by Chris Bohjalian and Never Look Away by Linwood Barclay.
I've got some seriously great reads on the nightstand and I can't wait to dive into each one of them!!
