Catch up.....

That's all I ever feel like I'm doing, is catching up! There's never enough time.

I'm really enjoying playing with my new toy. Love this mini notebook. I don't know how I would be surviving at work without it. But, it's completely cut into my reading time at work. I haven't been doing much, only when I'm going to sleep and I've been so tired, I don't read too many pages before I pass out.

I'm sure once the hussle & bussle of this weekend is over, I'll get some more reading time in. At least I hope so! I have quite a few books in my TBR pile.

I'm "borrowing" a question that I've seen on a few blogs this week. I think it's really a good one!

So...Book Gluttony! Are your eyes bigger than your book belly? Do you have a habit of buying up books far quicker than you could possibly read them? Have you had to curb your book buying habits until you can catch up with yourself? Or are you a controlled buyer, only purchasing books when you have run out of things to read?

I'm a book hog! I honestly believe it's an addiction. I CAN'T SAY NO! Even when I know I have at least 300 books in this house to read, if I see one at a sale or sitting on our bookshelf at work, I take it. Now I won't take one just for the heck of it, I pick and chose. But I can't pass up a really good book, even if I know it won't be read for a while. Right now, I have 6 library books on my nightstand, I have 9 books that I own that I am dying to dive into and I have at least 3 on hold at the library. That's not including the shelves and piles that I have in my room. And then there are boxes of books in the basement. I don't even know how many. I just know they are there and eventually I will get to them.

If I never went to the library again, I wouldn't run out of books for at least 3 years. But that will never happen. And it's not my fault. I can't help the fact that some of my favorite authors have to keep writing new books. It's not my fault that I keep finding new authors that I can't believe I haven't read before. IT'S JUST NOT MY FAULT!

But I can justify it. I have no other vices. I don't smoke, drink, shop for shoes. I don't blow a ton of money on books, I get them from flea markets, yard sales, library sales or just get them for free. I love book stores but I don't shop them. I browse them. I have a notebook in my pocketbook with lists. Lots and lots of lists. Authors I want to try, books I want to find, suggestions from friends, book boards and blogs.

I just enjoy reading so much, I just enjoy "having" these books so much. And I don't see a damn thing wrong with it. I refuse to be "cured". I refuse to give up this addiction!

  1. What a great post!

I feel the same way. We SO need to meet at a bookstore, get some coffee and just browse!

  2. I have nowhere near as many books as you, but I love my book collection and dream of having an entire room that I can use as a library.

  3. Kathy, wouldn't that just be so cool! And not just a B&N bookstore. One of those indy, old type bookstores! That would be awesome!
